Every part of the Soulsborne games is full of amazing story, but which FromSoftware game has the best lore?
Some of the most well-known things about the Soulsborne games are how hard they are and how dark they look. FromSoftware has made seven games that are all thought to be part of the Soulsborne franchise. Over the years, the games have gotten harder and darker, but they have also changed in other ways.
But another very amazing thing about the Soulsborne games is how the stories and worlds have been built up across all of them. Even though all of the Soulsborne games are great examples in this way for the rest of the gaming business, some of them have better stories than others.
Dark Souls 2

The first attempt to go back to the world of Dark Souls was not what fans had hoped for from a story point of view. It’s not that it’s a bad game or that the story and world-building are a bunch of nonsense, but compared to what fans have come to expect, especially after playing all of the Soulsborne games, it’s a step down.
Dark Souls II is different from the other Soulsborne games because both the story and the level of challenge have changed. The story of King Vendrick and how he is found as a hollowed-out version of himself may be the most interesting part of the game’s backstory. This is one of the more debated decisions in the series, but it was an interesting change from many of the other games.
Dark Souls 3

Even though Dark Souls III is only one step up from Dark Souls II. There are big differences in the amount of story between the two games. There are interesting places and a lot better ways for the Ashen One to get from one place to another. All of this helped a lot to make sure that the last movie in the series was more than just an homage to the first.
When a game like Dark Souls III is so focused on the first game in the series. It is hard for it to find its own great story outside of that one. But Dark Souls III did a good job of this, making great stories on its own, like the Curse-Rotted Greatwood and the Pontiff, who is probably one of the most interestingly evil and ambitious foes in the series.
Demon’s Souls

When looking back at the first game in the style of Soulsborne. Its biggest flaw is that the games that have come after it have just kept raising the bar. Still, Demon’s Souls had great lore, even though the world it was set in seems simple when compared to the games that came after it started a new genre.
The Old One and how he came to be are important parts of the story of Demon’s Souls. So are the First Scourge and how it led King Allant to the dark form of the Soul Arts. The stories of other demons in the world, like The Maiden in Black and Archdemons. Make the history of Demon’s Souls much more interesting than most games at the time it came out in 2009.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is different from the other games in the Soulsborne series in a number of ways. Because of the Eastern mythology, this game looks and has a story that are very different from the others. Sekiro’s story is bold and fun, and there are some really deep parts to it. However, it seems less innovative because it takes place in a world that is much more like our own.
Still, the story of the Sculptor and how he became the Demon of Hatred and the story of the Great Shinobi Owl made for such interesting background and lore that Sekiro is still one of the most loved Soulsborne games when it comes to lore, even when compared to the other games in the series. Especially because some of the best bosses in the series are still in Sekiro.
Dark Souls

As the Soulsborne games have gone on, they have learned a lot about the world and its history. But there’s something about the way the original Dark Souls world was built that makes it feel hard to match. The game’s creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki, has talked about the theme of powerful beings falling, which is a big part of Penalty Kick Online game’s grand and sad world and still confuses some fans today.
The stories in the first Dark Souls game are amazing, like how Lord Gwyn started the Age of Fire after fighting the eternal dragons. The themes of racism in the story of Yhorm the Giant and everything about the history and personality of Siegward of Catarina make for amazing stories that could work well as films or TV shows one day.
Elden Ring

The latest game in the Soulsborne series is a great stand-alone story that follows the same style as the other games. Elden Ring has gotten a lot of love and a huge number of fans. Because of its fighting and graphics, but its lore and story may be its best feature.
The world of Elden Ring is very big and open. Between legacy dungeons, bosses with amazing backstories like Rennala, Godfrey, and Malenia. And secrets that are just ready to be found in the open world, the lore is huge and all-encompassing. It almost couldn’t have more promise for deep dives, except for one game that is even better.
Bloodborne

Bloodborne might be the game with the most story in the whole world. Even though the city of Yharnam doesn’t have the most bosses or characters of any Soulsborne game. The overall story of the lore is by far the biggest and best of the series to date.
No other game has done this kind of cosmic horror so well or built a story so deep. And long-lasting that fans will never be able to learn everything about it. Bloodborne is a great example of how deep video games can get and how far they can take fans down the rabbit hole of lore.
